Manipulating images

This article is about as honest a story of how digital images are manipulated for artistic impact that I've encountered. I found myself getting increasingly uncomfortable, though, as I looked at the descriptions of the photographer's images.

How do you feel about what he is saying?

Adobe CS6

Ken sent me an email with a link to the new CS6 beta, Superstition. I downloaded the free trial. Still residing in the dark ages of CS3 I can see that I have a lot to learn. Lots of graphical icons. The artistic filters have moved. Much more powerful tools. Hopefully Ken will walk me through.

I remember being a DOS guy and sniffing at those peons that were extolling the virtues of GUI (graphic user interfaces). If they can't figure out DOS, they have no business behind a keyboard. Boy did I learn...

The image on top is something I quickly played around with using the oil painting filter.

Yucca Valley in B&W

I took this today up near Yucca Valley.... as the storm was approaching. I am thinking of entering this in the SD County Fair. What do you think??? I like the contrast between the light foreground with the progressively darker hills in the background.

John Vivanco

Check out the work John Vivanco is doing. He is my friend's Ed and Diane's son. All constructed, no photoshop. Scroll through, very unique vision!
