The Tooth of Time

The Tooth of Time is located on Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimmaron, NM. This massive granite outcrop is the symbol of Philmont that thousands of Boy Scouts age 14 and older see each summer as they arrive for their high adventure camping experience.

Less Is More

I'm sure I should beg forgiveness for putting this up but this is the sum total of the technology I use when I am at my best (admittedly a rare occasion).  It is a Chevrolet in the world of optics and merely in very good condition--a mile from mint.  Still this is where the real thrill is and where I really "feel the love" with photography.

Fallbrook's Most Visually Prominent Landmark

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Hitting the mark.

It was great to have so many people at the Saturday photo group coffee meeting this morning. Tom brought the ancient Canon with the 500mm telephoto for us all to check out. I look forward to our meeting every week, no matter how many people show up.

We were throwing around ideas about themes for the next group show and I liked a lot of the ideas, including Tom's idea to photograph local artisans. I think that the best idea was Reardon's, a Fallbrook centric show with a 35 mile radius limit from town. Unless there are significant objections, I think that is going to be the theme behind the next show in October.

So start shooting!

Peacock Shot

I call this "Southbound End of a Northbound Peacock". This is a different view than the usual. I do think that they are pretty amazing birds. This was taken at Leo Carrillo's Ranch in Carlsbad. It is a great place to visit.

Lost Okie Mural

One of the contributors to this group, Lost Okie, is a very fine muralist. His work is in a number of locations in Fallbrook. I took this one a while back because I was so impressed with it. This is on the side of a building on Main St., a couple of blocks west of Alvarado. It was an Italian bakery for a while, now a hamburger restaurant. He has recently complimented me very nicely on my work and this is my way of thanking him. Keep up the great work, Brett!!
