Stunningly beautiful photograph, Ken. It almost appears 3D, it's so life-like, so ... well, photorealistic. Although some photographers don't appreciate compliments about their equipment ("images are about the photographer, not the equipment"), it has to be admitted the butterfly's being stared down by one serious lens. And photographer. Nice job.
The lens is my 70-200 mm 2.8. This image is seriously cropped from the full frame since the 70-200 does not focus close enough for this type of photo. The butterfly farm web site is: http://www.monarchprogram.org/the-monarch-program-facility/
I especially like the balance of color, with the warm tones low and the greens higher up. It feels like they anchor and otherwise "tippy" direction for the butterfly. Nice photo!
Interesting depth of field. Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteKen.... What lens were you using? Where is this? ( from Italia!)
