MULTIPLE LEDGES OF PERCEPTION #2

MULTIPLE LEDGES OF PERCEPTION

More Sunsets

I have posted several sunsets here in the past months. I know that sunsets are often pooh-poohed by real photographers. I guess they are too easy with the great colors. I happen to like them. Tom Sauerwein recently called me "King of the Sunsets". I wear that title as a badge of honor. Here are a couple from Morro Bay this past week. These were taken with my new Canon 16-35 mm 2.8 lens. I had a graduated ND on for the top photo

Disney Hall Redux

I posted this a while back. .... and not to beat a dead horse, here it is again!! Blue Heron took exception to it. He had a couple of criticisms that I took to heart. We talked a couple of days ago and he said his big objection was the discordant note of the bright blue, cool sky next to the warm bronze tones of the building. I felt his point was well taken. So.... here I go again. I warmed up the sky.

What you say now, Blue Heron??? ( And any others who care to comment!!!)

I drove past this guy while returning from the library.

Sick new phone

Check out this new Polaroid camera phone. Thing is so hot you have to smoke a cigarette when you are done using it.

Disney Hall at Dusk

Balboa Park

I was there Jan 1st.... early but not quite as early as Robert. This is one of my best shots that day. Have a great time!!!

Big Game Hunting, Photography Style

Laguna Pool, Balboa Park
I dropped my wife off at the airport at six this morning and drove over to Balboa Park to get some shots at first light. It was quiet and wonderful but my card was soon full, damn these hefty NEF files!

Anyway I had a thought. I am looking for five photographers (all my van will hold) who would like to take a trip to San Diego at the crack of dawn next sunday. There are so many great shots to capture down there at the park, before the humans arrive, from plants, to ponds, roses and spanish ornamentation. I walked through the cactus garden this morning and all the aloes are in bloom.

Afterwards we could do as I did this morning and catch some of the street people/market street shots. I drove to Sunset Cliffs today to check out the waves but we could go to the Presidio or Mission de Alcala and then have lunch someplace. We could even do the zoo.

Anybody interested in a group shoot, please let me know. I would want to meet at the Park and Ride near Nessies no later than five. Early light is where the magic happens.

Disney Hall Abstract in B & W

I think I like the color version better. I like the monotone look with a splash of color in the corner. What do you think???

I like this shot. It was candid. People have suggested that it would be stronger if I cropped out the shoes or shopped them but I don't want to mess with the aspect ratio, or risk harming the composition.

Hey the shoes were there, Happens in life sometimes.
Michael's image lead me to channel Jackson Pollack again with these Sycamores that caught my eye off the 15 near Escondido.

Here is a link to some propaganda for the latest camera in the iPhone.   I can't escape the notion that cameras are on the verge of dramatic changes as they morph toward overtly being computers with (liquid) lenses.   I suspect DSLR types are here to stay for those of us who like to exercise thought and some control but photography in general seems to run off in its own direction.
