Petzval Portrait Lens Reissue

Here we go boys and girls, the Petzval Protrait lens of 1840 reissued in Nikon and Canon mounts by Lomography of Russia.  This was the first mathematically calculated lens made by the worlds first camera company Voigtlander in Germany.  It is rich in field curvature and other aberrations and produces an interesting rather romantic image.   Get yours for a low $400.00 which is very low compared to the cost of the surviving originals.  It is in a brass barrel like the original and uses Waterhouse stops yet.   Judging from the color saturation the reissue is probably multicoated.

Lightroom 5 demo

I believe that Ken Seals will be giving us a brief demonstration on the finer points and new additions introduced in Lightroom 5 this saturday. We have the small private room at Caffe Primo reserved.

The new Lightroom 5 has a nifty new content aware brush feature, multiple vignetting and several other added features that I am sure Ken will clue us all in on. I have also asked him to explain the HDR adjustment tools in CS6 as well. I mistakenly bumped into them yesterday. As you know Ken is now certified by Adobe so let's try to stump him.

Should be an interesting demonstration. I am looking forward to it. Plan on being there.

A New Star In Town!

Beth Vinas, STUPENDOUS vocalist for the band Grove Kitty! Performing at the first Fallbrook Hot Summer Nights of 2013. In my mind she ranks up there with all the great women singers of Rock and Roll. www.groovekitty.net

The Creative Process

As a kid from Dodge City, I immediately thought this looked like Wyatt Earp getting ready to shoot a bad guy.
