Here is an interesting LA Times article on virtual reality that has a lot of implications for where photography is headed. If we think the switch from film to digital was disruptive, just wait until the photograph morphs into a sense colonizing alternate reality.

ReplyDeleteI was at the dealership all day getting an axle replaced and there were a couple digital photography magazines in the lobby. British magazines. Thumbing through them, I realized that I abhorred much of the work. The over reliance on HDR made me queasy and a bit seasick. Superattenuated colors work for some, just not for me, or rarely. I am afraid that I am firmly in the grouchy old man phase...
ReplyDeleteHDR often makes me reach for the Pepto Bismol. I think HDR over workers ought to look at the real world to see how light works. Painters do that to their everlasting credit.
